About the Hosts

Jeff Lail is currently the Coordinator for Programs in Campus Activities and Programs at THE University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Jeff enjoys economics, technology and sports and wonders if college athletics causes people to completely lose their minds.  He’s planning to start doctoral study in the fall and would like to study how college athletics affects student engagement with the campus.

Daniel Gray is an Activities Advisor in the Center for Student Involvement at the University of Houston.  Daniel firmly believes that allowing students the opportunity to make mistakes is the best way to help them develop.  Daniel is passionate about sports and in learning how sports affect the lives of the student athlete.  His research focuses on underprivileged and underrepresented youth and their access to quality higher education.

Pete Pereira is currently the Coordinator of Campus Activities at Texas State University – San Marcos. He briefly participated in Track & Field and studied Sports Management at his alma mater, Sacred Heart University.  Pete enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports (especially his new obsession – soccer), and contributing to the student activities profession.

Doug Smith is currently Activities Specialist at Arizona State University. Doug was a college athlete playing tennis for two years and has also coached tennis at the Division III level. He knows way too much about sports in general and wonders how governance of college athletics will ever truly be fair.
