Last week, the world lost a great leader who encouraged us to Think Different and to stand out from the crowd. Since I heard the news, I have been pondering how much Steve Jobs has impacted the realm of technology, innovation and development.

Steve Jobs was always passionate and thinking forward about the possibilities that lie ahead.  This is probably why his 2005 Stanford Commencement Speech video has been viewed almost 6 million people to date and his ideas continue inspire others. “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life… Stay hungry. Stay foolish.”

#CTCX also had guests from  @infinum, Alexander Leader @alexanderleader [President and founder of Infinum Education, creator of Aviso] and Kristin Williams @kloseywilliams [Implementation Consultant with Aviso, former academic advisor at Kent State University]. If you are in the advising realm you will want to keep an eye on them.

Was the F8 all that great? Last Campus Tech Connection (#CTCX) show @julieclarsen & I chatted about the new features of the most social network around the world – Facebook. There are some changes happening to this online space that can have great implications for Student Affairs and Higher Ed professionals who uses theses spaces with their campus communities, professional networks and personal spheres. During the episode we discussed a few of the upgraded Facebook features.

Here’s a quick summary of what’s changed:

• A new Subscribe button, allowing you to follow people you aren’t friends with, plus filter the amount of information you get from current friends.
• Improved friends lists - easier way to group people into lists, including via semi-automated “smart lists.”
• A News Ticker that streams a constant flow of user updates in a sidebar (on top of your chat bar).
• A newspaper-like relevancy filter for your Facebook homepage.
• Instant sharing of what you read, listen to and watch.
• A new Timeline profile (a colorful history of you and your “life events”).
• Small change in how multiple photos are displayed in timeline
