U of Penn Approves Transgender Insurance

by Julie Larsen on April 16, 2010

The Huffington Post reported yesterday that the University of Pennsylvania has approved transgender insurance for students. This supporting article in the Philadelphia Inquirer explains in greater detail that students who purchase the school’s insurance will have up to coverage for surgery up to $50,000, with the benefits also covering “psychotherapy and hormonal treatments that go with the surgery.”

Penn joins Stanford and Harvard which both also offer coverage for transgender students.
