Fear Culture or Keeping Students Safe?

by Julie Larsen on March 9, 2010

A student at Portland State University brought gun parts to class in late November as part of his class presentation. Campus Police says no report was filed or received regarding the incident. Then, on January 14th the professor of that class called out the student for being a “government informant and killer.” As the article says, the professor has been suspended, and an investigation is underway.

I just skimmed over the article but my 1st thought was “how was this not reported?!” I think the the professor should have reported his conerns right away as well as the gun.

I feel like there is something missing. What happen between the presentation to the end of the semester?

Yep to both of you. There seems to be more to the story. The professor sat through a 20 minute presentation by the student and only far later decided to take any sort of action? Something is missing.
