Creating a Culture of Campus Safety

by Jeff Jackson on January 28, 2010

girls fight backYesterday on our Podcast, we had a great conversation with Erin Weed of  Girls Fight Back. It made me think about how we teach safety and ask if we are doing enough to create a culture of non-violence on campus.

As I reflected back on our conversation I started thinking: Who is in charge of safety on campus? And I do not mean campus police or security. I mean, is there a member of your campus  community that is constantly thinking of ways to communicate safety tips, hold self-defense classes, and advocates for more lights and after hour escort programs?

Does your campus have a safety advocate?

Girls Fight Back has great resources on their website and your can check out her book here.
